Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells!
Time Well Spent!
This past Tuesday, for the 2nd year in a row, my co-worker Joanne and I used the “volunteer day” our company gives us annually to help with gift wrapping at the Santa’s Anonymous Depot. We both happily brought our donations for the drop-off bin and then wrapped away! So much tape is needed for each parcel too! Every “parcel” has around 5 gifts and must be wrapped into 1 parcel with all edges completely taped down. It has been done that way as the parcels get a lot of “handling” between the wrapping table and delivery at the door … hence the “ton” of tape on each one!
I was searching though the bins trying to find gifts for the 10 to 12 year olds and it was tuff! The selection for boys wasn’t huge but the box for girls that age was empty before the morning was even 1/2 over! It seems that over the years, SA has often been short of donations for kids over 8 or 9 and that appears to be the case this year too! (I sure hope no one gets missed … Joanne and I both brought gifts for the 9 yrs+ group so at least 4 more kids will get something fun on Christmas morning!)
Hundreds of kind hearted people buy toys for this charity and a then whole bunch of volunteers put that generosity in motion. It’s heart-warming to see and to be a very small part of all that!
Dashing Through the Snow
There’s plenty of it to dash through too, lol! But that’s ok ’cause the Holiday Season is well under way and it wouldn’t be quite the same without the snow! Lights and decorations everywhere! My favorite radio station CISN FM had been playing lots of “country” Christmas tunes these days – luv it! Yes … it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … 🙂
Everything’s falling into place quite nicely too! A very important gift for a very important someone was delivered right to the door last Sunday afternoon (so convenient for me … now that’s why I luv shopping online – Overstock.com rocks!). I picked up 2 more gifts over the weekend and I even started writing my Christmas cards. 😀
The Christmas Dinner draft menu has been started … looks like it’s going to be a stuffed turkey breast this year. I’ve heard they’re easy to cook, are really good and are great for a smaller get together … sounds just right! Of course there’ll be mashed potatoes, baked yam too … still thinking about the veggies (broccoli or cauliflower, cheese sauce or not) and dessert – still thinking about that too … hhhm-mm …. something fairly simple I think.
Yup, my holiday “to do” list is looking good! And I’m really looking forward to having lots of time off this year- 12 days! (Counting down!)
How’re you doing? Chipping away at your “to do” list? What say you about the Holiday Season?
Peace on Earth and keep smiling!
